GREEK ISLANDS :30w Hispa feeds +24.5w feeds!

Hi dear friends!

I recently moved from Budapest to Rodos island in south Greece.

First thing was setting up a motorised antenna:
-2.4m famaval dish with double motors + Invacom C120lnb

I get most of the TP's from all satellites between 46E and 30W(except 11510v very weak)..

The trouble starts when i look for feeds at 24.5w or 30w..Its almost nothing if not very low db signal..

A friend of mine in Athens able to receive all feed with 150cmGibertini..

• So I am wondering if i can do anything to increase the signal level on these 2 satellites to receive feeds? Increase the dish size/ or am I bound with the reception area?
• I might be getting a 3.7m prodellin fixed antenna. How would this change the game? is it hard to make a polar mount for this one?

I checked now, its dark here in Rodos and very low signal from this frequency.. Morning and daytime I see %75Q %45L ..

Weird , right?


For instance, another TP 11771 looks quite strong:

Are you able to catch any sports feeds from Hispasat ? Usually between 11500-11600 and 12500-750 ?

With my big dish(3.4m) i catch all the feeds.

With cloudy weather

And with my 2nd dish (2.1m)

Also with my 2.1m (11510 Ver)

Looks like your 2,1m beats my 2,4m for the 11510 V although you are far more southeast..interesting..
Maybe I need to do some tuning with the dish? What you think?

Its not unusual to have wildly differing reception over a few hours in extreme fringe reception.

It can be caused by anything from changes in illumination of the craft changing the power output marginally and degrading the signal enough to push it over the "digital cliff" to the daily movement of the craft in its orbital slot over 24 hours again pushing the signal over the cliff.

Or just tiny changes in atmospherics or local interference being more evident at night when people are home. You are not alone with the problem by any means.

The most important of all these that you wrote my friend is that i'm more SE than you.
Our receptions last night were at the same time (my 2.1m and your 2.4m) and dishes have almost the same diameter with the same LNB's
Because we speaking about Hispa and this satellite is very closed to horizon (West Limit of my Satellite Dishes is 34W) for our area (Eastern Europe) the most important thing is to improvement your signal by your declination but before this check also your focal point and LNB skew
