Has Eurobird 1 drifted ?

My Satellite Setup
ITSarria LTE Internet, 2 X SKY HD, Invacom C120 quad LNB, Raven 2.4m offset dish, TDT (Spanish freeview)
My Location
Maspalomas, Gran Canaria
I have been having problems with channels on EB1 (fixed beam - we don't get steerable) both on my 2.4m Channel Master dish and my 80 cm system at the other house.

Until a couple of weeks ago i was receiving all the fixed beam channels fine.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and does anyone have any suggestions why?

As I understand the systems in operation each of the satellites operates within a grid approx 5km by 5km and bounces around within that square grid, thus at certain times before the autocorrect protocols kick in and gas drive it back away from the edge towards the centre of the grid, it is at a limit which may affect signal strength but will probably correct itself in a couple of days.

Alternatively, you could have a spider making a web in your lnb, who knows
 
Has it been very warm in Gran Canaria recently? If it is the lnbs may be drifting out of tolerance as they heat up.

Yes. It is hot. Does that mean the LNBs are faulty? Do I need to check the scew or do I just have to live with it? Thanks.
 
Try chucking a couple of mugs of water over the lnbs to cool them (or put a pack of frozen peas over them!) - if the pics come back the internal oscillators are wandering off nominal frequency in the heat.

We had this problem reported a couple of years ago during a very hot spell in Cyprus.

Replacement time if this is the problem..


Of course it may be the dishes are just warping in the heat - theres not a lot you can do if thats happening!
 
May also be dish slightly off alignment in the winds?

Hey BLUE, also try using factor 10 sun cream spread evenly over the LNb, she might get a little burnt :-lmao
 
yep its that time of year again. Its hot and on alternate days I am exterminating spiders and replacing Invacom quads.
By the way,the new white invacoms seem to have a lifespan of about 2-3 years then they start to "fade off".Also,after about 12 months the local oscillator in the LNB does seem to drift a bit,especially on high band as I can't get a lock on my Horizon meter. I know the meter could be to blame as it can't handle the drift but luckily my satlook combo helps me to find the correct frfequency that the LNB gives out,but the tuner on the satlook is not very strong.
