My new mobo (soltek sl 865Pro 775) won´t boot

LOaded it with 2*256 dual channel memory, agp videocard and an Intel 775 prescott 3.4.gh cpu

Tries to boot but stops after a while Debug led showing 20 or d9 or 33

Got the boot window once but not completed

Any ideas are more than welcomed:)
 
Take one of the memory banks out and see what happens, then try the other one on its own.
 
If it's dual channel memory then I think you need 2 banks of memory at all times.

Are the two sticks of memory matched? If not, this may be the problem. Also, are they the correct speed?
 
Wasn't that only with SDRAM Paul, thought that all DDRAM could be used as a single stick.

Yes it will run on a singel chip, and Yes I tested that and No same story

Now I will remove it from the case and see if there is a short somewhere, got this tip from a friend at the Den

Then I asked Soltek´s support if they could help, I will have to wait until tomorrow for that one, they work while we sleep:p
 
Think it is the mobo:(

Started when I used only one mem chip (tested both)

but still won´t install the xp (tried pro and home)

Got the blue screen (tried a fresh new hd, still no joy)
 
Update !

After many problems I managed to use both memory sticks but not as they should be placed

As this is dual channel system they should be seated in 1,3 OR 2,4 but that won´t work (will not boot) After some tests I have them in 1 and 2 and bios finds 512MB so Ok for now with that

Still won´t install XP (tried both pro and home, fresh install and repair)
Got the blue screen

Tested with my old HD (win xp pro) Black screen
Tried safe mode Starts but stops (all the time) at the very same place
Loading mup.sys and then nothing more

Today I downloded a newer bios, will flash that tonight and test again

Computers are fun, are they not ?:-DOH! 'O'-red :D
 
LOL, sounds like you're going through the mill on this one Dig, hope you get it sorted. :)
 
Are you tying to load onto a SATA drive? If so you may need to hit f6 when it is loading drivers to add the SATA driver for the MB. Failing to do this can give blue screen and 'inaccessible boot device'
 
Anyone know what mup.sys is doing ?
 
Is that something to do with Kermit and Miss Piggy? :-lmao
 
in your BIOS, is there an option for Bios Virus protection??? if so, turn it off..

other than that, the general concensus is to flash upgrade the BIOS :(
 
Update....
Ummm after looking into this i found what maybe the problem.

im assuming the windows version is complete with SP2.
if so, then your problem isnt mup.sys as you think but
c:\windows\system32\drivers\update.sys

rename update.sys to update.sp2

you should beable to boot up/install

once you have booted up and your able to connect online, go here

and get the fix :)

chech after that you now have an updated update.sys file

you DO need this file for windows to run correctly

Tomorrow is testing time, have upgraded bios ready(in a dos floppy)

But I will try the rename first

Now I am close to waste this mobo'O'-red

I tried everything and still no go

Tested with 1 memory stick, 3 kinds of videocard, 2 hd´s and only one hd, a new fresh HD, flashed the bios, disabled almost everything:) and then tried both the winxp pro and home edition NOTHING works

After a while (like halfway) I got the blue screen, windows was stopped just to save the computer...... First time it suggested a new videocard:-rofl2 and later disabling some memory thingy :-DOH! This mobo must be knackered

Tomorrow will be shopping time for a new board, not a Soltek this time:eek:

Still must be a 775 board and no pc-express Did find a combo board so I think I will give it a try

Boy, this took more than a week:cool: Next time I buy a Dell({}) ready to go
 
No Dig, get yourself a Toecutter special like I've got. :D
