I’ve just bought a TM-7100 from Amazon UK. It was a bargain, about £50 cheaper than Other Websites. It arrived quickly, I have set it up, and am pleased with it. But, some things puzzle me.
1. It included a 500gb hard drive, which I wasn’t expecting, making it more like £100 cheaper than similar models elsewhere.
2. The software version is 1.21 (Mar 4 2010), but the latest available on the Technomate UK website is 118 (16 Feb 2010)
3. It didn’t have any channels preloaded, as advertised. There were favourite categories, but unpopulated. This wasn’t a problem, as a scan gave me all the channels I needed, but the manual says there should be 1500 channels pre-listed.
I can’t see any signs of use, so I don’t think it’s a refurb. Could it be a grey import, intended for a different market? If so, could there be any problems?
By the way, the price on Amazon went up the day after I placed my order.
