new user so im not sure
hello everybody!

iv been doing a lot of research and i would be greatful if a few things could be clarified....

if you buy a UK second hand sky set top box like a pace 2500 or what ever, its only going to work with the standard B$ky B satellite?

this is fine but if you want to see the channels from this satalite you will need to subscribe, but it is possible to download some 'hex' type files and put then on a smart card?

if this is all true how do you know which files are needed for the standard $ky satellite?

any help is much appreciated.

You will be able to view any FTA channels then with a £20.00 sky card you will be able to view FTV channels but for subscription channels you will need to pay as the encryption system has not been compromised.

Absolutely not!

Welcome big number. If you want Sky you pay for it. End of story

And tbh heaven help us if the encryption is ever cracked, as all the satellite forums will collapse under the number of new members suddenly signing up demanding info on how to get free Sky programming.

i still dont understand why there is such a market for fun cards,and cams? and all the 5 in 1 files etc...? i read some stuff about series 07 or series 09 (i think) is this not related or have i got the wrong end of the stick?

also what are keys? what are they use for?

one last thing what system does normal uk sky run on? is it seca or seca 2

The $ky satellites are not the only ones above us. Files, programmable cards, CAMs etc. are more relevant to other providers on other satellites.

Keys are strings of numbers which are used by software on both the smartcards and in CAMs and receivers to unlock (or decode) each 'chunk' of TV stream sent down to your dish.

$ky transmissions in this country use an encryption system called ND$. Only part of it's internal workings are fully understood (at least in the public domain), and it cannot be opened without an official card ATM.
