Hi there,called over to my dads and he has a old skydish and i got him a ne smart titanium 0.2lnb so we could hook up his comag dvb reciever.
I think the best sat to lock onto would be Eurobird * 28.5 deg E.
I am in Galway Ireland and our Lat and Long is 53.28 and -9.07.
Latitude = 53.2849, Longitude = -9.0747
Lat = 53 degrees, 17.1 minutes North
Long = 9 degrees, 4.5 minutes West
If you want to point a satellite TV dish at Satellite= 0 East orbit longitude

Dish elevation= 28.6, Azimuth= 175.9 (magnetic compass), Polarisation= -6.7
any info would be a great help

Whilst it may be true this will give you English speaking channels how long can you suffer quiz channels shopping channels and religeous channels? You are not going to get much of any interest for free on that bird

Well you will of course get all of the BBC and ITV channels, plus some news channels, but it isn't greatly exiting. :)

Any compass will do to roughly find the satellite, then fine tune using a portable TV out by the dish and watch the signal strength bars on the receiver.

Pace 2200 Sky digibox with ftv card, Comag SL65 FTA sat receiver, 40cm Sky minidish, Setpal terrestrial receiver (for free uk tv only!).

Free (non encrypted) channels on the Sky system (28.2E) include:

Some main uk terrestial (all BBC, some ITV, but no CH4).

Four free (but low quality) film channels. Includes Horror Channel, some reasonable stuff, not as good as it was when lauched.

Performance, sometimes still good stuff, but getting worse recently.

Open Access, a few films.

1 or 2 sport channels, again low quality.

Playboy One, reasonable!

Travel, Travel 2, still excellent!

Propeller, mostly crap, occasional films.

A fair amount of free Asian and Arabic channels.

My personal free favourite is Arte (Hotbird and Astra1), the French version shows quite a few excellent films with original English soundtracks (French subtitled), but it means moving the dish .....
