Have You ever seen dish like this?

Now I am new owner of this rare and old dish.
Probably made in Russia for military use in 1970 -1990.
It has second mirror.
Prime focus, 1.5M diametre, aluminium dish.

Feed has lot of silver probably inside but useless connecting new universal LNB.

I've got one of those Gardiner wide band LNBs in the back of the cupboard somewhere that I used to use around 1994.

A Russian dish???? With a US made LNB on it??? Had to be a retrofit from somewhere else.

I remember reading about this type of parabolic antenna before - I believe it's a ADE antenna (Axially Displaced Ellipse).
The funny looking sub-reflector "leaves a hole" for the signal to travel down the centre of the feed to the LNB mounted nearer the centre/bottom/rear of the dish.

Rummaged around my files, and found it described in Paul Wades paper entitled "Multiple Reflector Dish Antennas", available at http://www.w1ghz.org/antbook/conf/Multiple_reflector_antennas.pdf

I've seen this article before but lost.
Now I know this is Axially Displaced Ellipse reflector type antenna.
The focus is also a ring, rather than a point ...
Interesting how this antenna performs against usual 1.5M antenna?

Yes it is from Moscow.
At 90-s I was working in cooperative "Viko" making analogue satellite tuners after school. Made some work visits to Moscow and Kiev.
Then we got original Russian and Ukraine LNB-s.
In real world these were not as good as US LNB-s.
So Gardiner is best choose from past.

Now I try to put Black Ultra inside this central aluminium tube.
Micro stepper motor can turn this LNB to achieve best results.
This part failed first time. I try to use better grease next time.
If this fail s too I have to use small bearings.

Wouldn't you be better off with a modern C120 LNB and the built in feedhorn? Good to compare results though with a BU, we may be surprised by the results.
