have you got setanta golf?

firslty i appoligise if this is in the wrong area, i wasnt sure were to put it.

has any one in here got the setanta sports package?
would you recommend the golf coverage?
the golf channel started broadcasting on the 8th but im hearing from various sources that since monday the 8th all thats been on setanta golf is the exact same as setanta sports1.
whats the point in that?
im sure the boasted golf 24/7, unless its 24/7 i wont be signing up.
can you advise?

Folks over on the DS forum arent impressed so far:

How can setanta call there golf channel 24hrs.

it broadcasts just over 12hours and most of that is repeats of earlier shown programmes already seen that day.

also bringing back the awful "wonderful world of shell golf" they are desperate.

but repeating there 3hr live show 2 or 3 times a day not worth 15pounds to me!!!

And

dont call a vt promo running from midnight till 11am a 24 hour channel.

nor when its also inserted throughout the day. checking there tv guide its all very basic.

this is not there schedule but when i looked at this weeks forcoming schedule it was something like this:

00:00 - 11am vt promo advertising sentata golf
11am - 2pm a repeat of say day 1 sony open
2-3pm - wonderful world of shell golf (vt from 1945)
3-5pm - vt promo again!!
5-8pm - sony open day 1 repeat
8-9pm ronan walks around some golf courses
9-10pm - vt promo again
10-11pm a news type programme
12;00 day 2 live.

now i accept that give it a few weeks and when the champions and nationwide tour start they will fill that with the full programme (as transmitted from america) but if you like at there line up at the moment it rubbish.
they should have kept golf on setanta 1 for the first few events while the pga tour was on the west coast of usa and while the champions and nationwide tour doesnt start.

then do a big launch say in feb / march with all the new programming.
you could easily fill a golf channel with live / highlight / repeat golf with a few extra programmes.

so what im saying...in brief.... plenty of vt promo to watch for your 15pounds!

AND....

Realistically who is going to want to watch the Nationwide Tour? Nobody and I mean nobody will have heard of even a single player in any event.

Each week Setanta basically have between 8 and 12 hours of live US Tour golf and approx 6 hours of Champions Tour (remember Champions Tour events other than the majors only last 3 days).

Some of the Champions Tour will clash with the live main tour event so will only be able to be shown for the first time at around 11pm each night after live coverage of the main tour event has finished (ignore unusual timings for the first 2 weeks due to the events being in Hawaii).

So we're basically talking about approx 18 hours of watchable golf each week which will be being endlessly repeated to fill up 168 hours in the week.

I have the full Setanta pack on an irish card and have the Sky World pack (without Setanta) on an active UK card. It's a pain in the bum switching cards everytime I want to watch Setanta so I rang them up hoping to get cancelled. The plan was to then activate the channels on my UK card. Sorry they said, you're in a year long contract, you can't cancel till the end of August 2007. So I decided to try the excuse 'I'm living in Italy, aren't I breaking the t & c's of my contract??? Despite my telling them I'm not in the UK/Ireland they still refused to cancel my card!
Anyone want to take it off my hands??? 25% discount!
