Evening folks,

My house mate recently brought back a Cyfrowy Polsat HD box (HD 5000) to the UK. Using a diseqc switch we can watch both freesat FTA channels and Polsat HD channels.

According to the specs of the box, it supports DVD-S2 and mpeg4, however I cannot get BBCHD, ITV1 HD etc. - The transponder scan finds the channels and the EPG channel information and current program displays, but no picture/sound.

Does anyone know if this can be made to work?

Regards,

Alun.

Can you confirm that you have a $ly minidish with multiple LNBs? It seems unlikely but if yes what is the main satellite that it is pointed at?

Do you get any of the Freesat FTA channels?

I do have a dish with multiple lnbs and a diseqc 1.0 switch which the polsat box supports and is working. I confirm fta channels such as bbc1 work fine as do hotbird polsat channels.

One thought that occurs to me is that the two BBC HD channels and one of the ITV1 HD channels on 10.847 Vertical use an SR of 23000 and a FEC of 8/9. Your receiver may not be able to go to that exotic FEC. Do you have a manual to check?

I didn't pick up the channels originally but I did manually enter those details and then it found the channels and added. I can now see them on epg and the current program details but no picture or sound. I don't think they use dvb-s2 on polsat but the spec. Of this receiver says its supported :(

That was going to be my next guess. Maybe someone knows for sure whether your Polsat box supports S2 or not.

If you get the channels names and the epg info from BBC HD and BBC One HD, the receiver supports DVB-S2.

Do you see any HD channel on DVB-S ?
10.936 MHz V 22.000 5/6 DVB-S --->>> ITV 1 HD, STV HD ?
10.832 MHz H 22.000 5/6 DVB-S --->>> ITV1 HD ?
11.224 MHz V 27.500 2/3 DVB-S --->>> NHK HD ?

Also, it may be worth resetting /rebooting the box. I had a freesat receiver do the very same last week, for those particular channels / freq too.

The one I posted above is encrypted - sorry. There are other unencrypted ones though; try 10.832 H 22000 5/6 and 10.936 V 22000 5/6.

Channel4 HD shows up, but again no pic...this is like pulling teeth, I may give up on this receiver and buy something a bit better!

It's not the receiver, but errors in Transponder data.

You get that with all boxes - keeping up with changes can be one's life's work, it sometimes seems!

That's on 1N now so maybe your table is out of date, 11.126 V 22000 2/3 and it's DVB-S2 8PSK MPEG-4.

Of course a true Freesat receiver takes all these changes in its stride! Still, you must be nearly there by now I would have thought

The settings I used for C4 HD : 11.126 V - 22000 - 2/3

the channel added and I get the epg, but no darn pic/sound.

C4 HD is 8PSK. Maybe your receiver can't do that. The others are QPSK or less.

ah that could be it! scuppered.

to be honest my multilnb setup doesnt give me great signal and this receiver cannot drive a motor. I might move to a technomate HD receiver and a motor, thou I believe the polsat card is locked to this receiver :/ there is no perfect solution!

Rebooted the receiver and now get channel 4 HD OK. Scanned the BBC and c5 transponder and again got no pic or sound but another reboot sorted that! Awkward but I got there!
