I have recently bought a panasonic plasma with built in freesat receiver.
Is there a way to "tune in " ITV hd so it is always available?

No - ITV HD is not licensed by Ofcom so they can only operate the interactive service for the time being.

Its a fudge, although some generic HD boxes can tune it in as a seperate channel!

You could try tuning it under the other satellites option.

It doesn't work. Scanning the TP declines to acknowledge it and there is no facility for manually inputting PIDs.

Did you try scanning TP when ITV HD was transmitting a live program?

Yes, of course! ;)

I have never seen anyone report success with this particular evolution on a Freesat Box.

Have you somehow managed it?

It is, however, perfectly possible on various non-Freesat Receivers, and Fortec Star Passion owners seem particularly chuffed.

To confuse the issue further, the BBCi Streams are inconsistent in the same respect: The two on 11954 H 27500 (the multi-screen ones) can be acquired in non-freesat mode on a Freesat Box, but the others on 12441 V 27500 cannot. Now to get those, which don't present a problem to non-Platform Boxes at all, would be quite useful.
