HD over dvb T in Uk now started!

Exactly - because you use MPEG4 on DVB-T. Just as France does.

Sorry to keep banging on about it but DVB-T2 is a different transmission method. Think of trying to receive analogue transmissions with a digital receiver. It's not quite so extreme as that but you get the idea.

Not as disappointed as anyone who's just spent £500 on the TM-7100 :eek:

Pontop Pike is due to gain it in Feb 2010 even though our DTT switchover date isn't until 2012. I can't believe how royally messed up this is, so many people are currently buying hardware for DTT switch over, they'll need to do it all over again to receive Freeview HD.

For me, it'll depend how quickly or even if the Cuberevo gets DVB-T2 tuners released. It would be nice to think by Q2 next year but unlikely I reckon.
With more countries in Europe expected to switch over to DVB-T2 and with the tuner being backwards compatible I'm hoping not to have to junk the box as it'll reach the point plugin DVB-T tuners aren't worth using and they just use DVB-T2 modules instead.

Wonder what the price premium over the next 12 months is going to be for Freeview HD/DVB-T2 stuff.

I guess for the summer the BBC will only be interested in getting the Freeview HD certified manufacturers on board. The rest they won't care about.

Does anyone know if they managed to get the EPG encryption for Freeview HD approved?

There has been a weak Digital mux emminating from Sutton Coldfiled going on and off the last couple of days broadcasting on CH56 :eek:

I thought it was a residual from the Brierley Hill TX which uses CH56 but it only got weaker when turning the aerial in the direction of Brierley Hill or Wrekin 'B'.

They may be testing a HD Digital mux i've no idea buit there was definately something there :toke:

i think in norway dvb t2 already startet?
the swiss if i have luck maybe also plan in the future to send,but,i dont think that the bill goes open,that everyone,that already bought a dvb t box,buys a very expensice hd dvb t box for only some channel more!
same then on dab/dab+,i got not both standarts from switzerland,then the old one swiched off some days,and then i can put my pure evoke that i bought in uk into the basket!,only because the industry says,the new stanart is better
same will happen on analouge fm radio,when the eu want to swtich off all ,in around 5 years..!

the only want to make money,without asking,what the people want!

Ofcom have updated the Reference Parameters for DTT in the UK and reading through it, even if the BBC somehow manage to get approval for the EPG encryption, they have to provide "Now and Next" as part of the broadcast without encryption.

I guess that means worst case the EPG for the HD channels will end up like most sat channels with Now and Next only. I'm sure the net based epg plugins currently used will soon catch up. It's not like they're going to prevent the program listings on radio times etc.
