I was told that a satellite receiver with the newer transport stream of DVB S2 mpeg4 doesnt mean it is HD.Apparently the resolution of the video must be higher than the PAL resolution before it can be considered as HD.
Can someone please clarify in simple terms what the position is and how is the layman suppose to ascertain the resolution issue.
 
The output of any receiver can potentially be played out through to an HDMI circuit. Plenty of DVD players used this a couple of years ago.

Plenty have been fooled into buying consumer boxes with the new fangled connector.
