My Satellite Setup
1 metre motorised dish
fortect innovation hd system
My Location
nothern ireland
hi son has done something to his computer
trying to boot install windows 7 ,when i get to the part to format the partition load driver refresh place etc.
nothing ot format,the hdd systems are missing ,keepvgetting load driver.
but dont have drivers.
i did download some to try to noavail
toshiba laptop
hdd info fujitso mhx2250bt s1
 
Do you see the hard drive in the bios ?
You need to check here first ...
Enter bios and load defaults ...
It _should_ appear in the list ..
If not then you may have a faulty hard drive..

..Having established the presence of the hard drive in the bios ...physically ...
Next question is ...how are you booting ....from disc ???
Some hard drives have an operating system restore function on a hidden partition on the original hard drive ..
If this is the case with yours ..DO NOT reformat the whole hard drive ..
If you erase this partition you cannot restore the OS ..
If you install from disc ..this isn't a problem ..and a new hard drive can be fitted..

yeah see the hdd in bios
seem to need the hdd drivers
cant get them anywhere
tried google sats something intel storage manager
downloaded it but driver search couldne find it as it was a setup exe
if you no what i mean

Not really sure whats going on here m8 ..
Do you still have a working operating system in the laptop ?
Are you talking about the internal HDD or an external drive ?
could do with some clarification..exactly what the setup is ?

has already been reformated disk install sofar till i get the format bit does all that then it asks for to load the hdd driver
i cant see the storage i no it has 250g hdd but cause he seems to have uninstalled are formatted it wrong
 
on the toshiba site they say just to load intel storage manager inf file ????
are sata drivers ,,,but they are zip files ,,,i put them on usb but the computer dont see them as they are zip files

all was working fine tilll he formated and deleted the partitions .
 
You need to load the SATA drivers, when loading your OS. First unzip the drivers, using Winzip, or 7 Zip, then load them onto your USB stick.
At the beginniong of installing Windows it will ask you if you need to load any drivers and give you the option of pressing one of the F keys, do this and point it to the drivers.
 
Can you expand them on another machine and then put them on the usb key?
 
did put them on a usb windows xp did not reconise theusb by pressing f6
trying now vista one thing has installed ow saying provide a mass storage driver
ony getting setup exe from the intel site no rar files.....
though was getting somewhere
 
I'm sorry but I'm a little confused, first you mention Windows 7, then XP and now Vista, which Operating System do you want to load? You also mentioned rar files, which are files compressed using Winrar, which files are these?
Can you please post the model of the Toshiba laptop.
 
trying vista ,,the rar files are what i downloaded from the intel site which i extracted to usb...
but cnt seem to find a intel mass storage rar file,,only getting setup .exe files
hope thats a bit clearer.....
in other words think i need inf lifes to load on the usb ,,i think
cause exe file no god???
 
This thread has me very confused ..
Normally the low level drivers to 'see' an installed Hard Drive by any Windows installation are present already as evidenced by the fact that the bios can see the drive ...
Its basic hardware level stuff ..
Any additional drivers (low-level) are included and installed by windows into ram during the instal procedure ...
So I'm not sure whats going on ..??
Do you not have the instal cds that came with the laptop ?

As I said earlier ..these are usually supplied with the lappy ...unless the OS reinstallation is put on a hidden partition on the original Hard drive ...which sadly has been wiped..

Normal procedure is this for any new installation of windows operating system ..
Insert blank hard drive ..
Boot into Bios ..
make sure bios 'sees' the hard drive ..
Change boot option to go for CD first ..
save and reboot ..
Windows should now install and load any drivers it needs ...identifies the drive ..and space available ..
Asks do you want to create partitions ..or allow the os to use all the hard drive ...
After partitions created ...windows asks you to format as required ..
reboots automatically ..and installation proceeds to completion asking for key along the way ..unless its an OEM install for your specific Laptop..in which case the key isn't asked for..
After completion you then install any missing drivers by checking in system /hardware to see whats missing ..
If its an OEM ..the drivers are usually supplied on a seperate cd ..
If not then begins the online search for the missing hardware drivers..

Can you please post full details, of your laptop, including all model numbers, then we can search for the required drivers.

BIOS HDD MAKE ,,FUJITSU MHX2250BT-S1 250GIGS
NO FLOPPY ON LAPTOP SO WILL NEED TO TRY nd load the hdd drivers via usb

evev tried the recovery disck for puter tried full system back up out of the box
but because the hdd driver have been some hoe deleted .....
have several windows bootable discs ......tried all just cant seem to get the right hdd intel mass storage file
 
Try loading the SATA drivers using a CD, just copy them onto a CD then finalize it, during the Windows installation switch the CD's, if the drivers load then return the Windows CD.
The SATA drivers are for your motherboard check the make/model motherboard and try downloading from the manufacturers site.

I have never seen the above highlighted options during any windows install, so cannot work out what you are trying to do here
If you are using a genuine Windows installation CD, you do not need to load anything yourself, generic drivers will be automatically be installed for all equipment found in the laptop, enough to get you on-line and then giving you the ability to get the Toshiba website to download the correct chipset drivers for that motherboard.
 
Ive never seen that either - and Im the computer technician at the local high school, with experience of swapping many dozens of hard drives over the years in an attempt to keep dilapidated old systems running!
