Heads Up - Interstellar

Yes, may break my rule and actually go to the cinema, rather than wait for the video. I'll wait until the kids are back at school and go in the afternoon during the week, as I am the worlds grumpiest man when a film is spoiled by others talking or fidgeting with sweet wrappers.

I just hope they don't make this 'epic' 3D screening only ...in my area.
I can't see 3D..and if I am gonna part with my hard earned ..I wan't to be able to see it in comfort.

..So ..excuse my ignorance but been looking at screenings of this movie ..
and non listed in 3D ..thank gawd ..but are listed with 4K strobe lighting ???
wtf is this medium ..
can anyone who has previous experience please enlighten me...

Fair enough ..but isn't that running a risk with those sensitive to strobe and don't yet know it ..
Or is it not that severe

VS...from what I've seen advertised 'Interstellar' isn't the only movie that carries that warning. It seems to be a catch all that cinemas have to put in their advertising nowadays to satisfy health and safety. There was nothing about it being exclusively shown in 3D either.
 
Yep , went to see it in 2D using my mobile phone providers 2 for 1 offer - thank goodness I didn't have to pay full price for the two of us to see this Film - neither of us liked it

I do not mind long films , it just seemed like they felt the special F/X would cover up the holes in the story line & at times the actors speech was drowned out by the soundtrack.

Obviously you can't take one persons view at gospel so my advice would be if you want to see it then go but try to see it at a cinema that does reduced rate tickets in the afternoon.
That way if you enjoy it then you have got yourself a bargain on the ticket price & if you don't , it hasn't cost you so much

Aren't 'holes' an essential part of the story line LOL? From the plot precis on Wiki :

"Brand reveals that a wormhole, apparently created for humanity by an alien intelligence, offers a chance for survival on a new planet."

Speech being drowned out is part and parcel of the cinema these days. The speaker system (and removal of some heavy felt/fabric on the walls) of our local however has been adapted so that the centre / rear seats do get an additional bright spot, following complaints last year.

For the science involved in making the film, the following link seems to have most of the answers from the horses mouth, Kip Thorne, but don't read it if you want to stay in the dark.
