Help a new beginner with Humax 5100

Im new to all this. I just replaced my old receiver with Humax 5100. Dish on 13E Hotbird and would like to get TSP channels. I searched the forum to find more info about patching Humax 5100 but found little info for a beginner. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.
 
I may of course be wrong, but don't think that the 5100 is patchable.

Thank you for a quick reply. I heard Technomate 1000 or 1500 is patchable and I can replace my Humax with either one. Do you know how TM 1000 or 1500 can be patched, and does it need regular updating. Thanks again.
 
The Technomate patches are easily available from a variety of sources (_www.alsat.com for starters)

They will need upating fairly regularly, and please note that the packages open at any one time vary as the hackers and the providers play their never ending game of cat and mouse.
 
You need to register first.

PLease, can someone explain to me what is the meaning of Patches....and what Recievers might work with it or dose it work with FTa?
 
A Patch is modified firmware which incorporates a built in emulator and allows keys to be changed with the receiver remote control and thus decrypts certain channels.

Being from the USA FTA probably means something different to you. Here in Europe FTA means free to air, in other words channels that are not encrypted.
The patches are specifically written for a make of receiver not the other way round.
