My Satellite Setup
Vu+duo, DM500, SS2, Sky+HD, 1.2m dish motorised
My Location
Nottingham
Please try to help me,

My motorised set up has been up for five years. however the pole had become loose on the flat roof it was on so I took it down and re-installed it a few weeks ago. All was okay. All sats scanned and picked up a good range of channels on my DM500, my Vu+ duo and my SS2. 45w - 45e. Last week during some high winds it came crashing down, concrete came loose. (only on to the flat roof -18 inches). I have installed it again and can not get any signal above 63% from 1w. No transponders found. I have installed the latest settings info also. The dish or LNB has no apparent damage from the fall.

I changed the STAB 120 motor for another upright 100 H-H motor I had and still no signal above 63%. Replaced the smart titanium quad LNB for a black ultra Inverto quad and can now only get the Poker channel on 1w. No other channels or transponders are picked up on any satellites. They are all there in the settings and stay at 63%. BTW I used a sat meter to get highest signal as I have always done

I am a bit stuck for ideas at the moment.
Pole - bang on 90deg
Dish/arms - could be slightly damaged - nothing visible however
LNB quad - Replaced - problem still there. skewed to 0deg
Cable dual feed from quad - Poker channel on at 86% on both feeds
Motor - took out of loop and still no signal but the poker channel, motor also set to elevation settings of 29.5deg initially and then changed to 37deg not sure about these but both picked up poker channel with some dish adjustment. done a full channel scan on both settings to no success.
Receiver. DM500 works off the sky dish and picks up astra2 with no issues
Trees - never had an issue - got all sats up to a few weeks back

BTW I am at 52.9n 1.1w

Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

A lot to go at there, so forgive the pruning!

Motor should be set against the Latitude scale to 53. Ignore the Elevation scale on the Motor

Dish Elevation should be initially set to somewhere around 26 deg prior to final alignment.

Fixed 63% signal really indicates a misalignment as an unvarying reading is often just the quiescent reading showing your LNB is connected and powered up.

Some piccies might help ............

Consider a warped dish if it came down [may not be visible] or possible dish alignment issue. As mentioned above, be sure to set the correct motor inclination setting.

According to king of sats there is a poker channel on Thor 3, 4.3W, 12246H 28000 7/8 and it is the only channel broadcasting on this satellite (last updated 22/6/2010), so if this is correct you may be on the wrong satellite.

Good one ................ never thought of that :)

Thanks for the replies guys,

a few points.

spare motor only has elevation settings on it. old motor was set to 53deg lat. looking at the angle of the motor against the horizontal, 29.5 seems about the same as 53deg angle on the old motor.

I'll double check to ensure I am not at 4w. unlikely I think, however does seem very plausible explanation.

63%, this seems to be the signal recieved as you say even if you unplug the LNB feed.

Once again thanks, as soon as the rain stops I will take some pics.

Just check the frequency. On 4.3ºW it's on 12248 H, on 1ºW it's on 12418 V.

Just a little more so you can confirm which sat you are on, If you are picking up Poker Channel from 1°W you should get Musiq 1, TV Patriot and others, which are on the same TP. (It's a very strong signal). If, on the other hand you only pick up Poker Channel it would suggest to me you are on 4°W, as Sandybob stated, it's the only one on that TP. Also, the signal from 4°W is nowhere near as strong as it would be from 1°W.

I'd plump for alignment on the wrong sat.

Just checked on Flysat, which tells me that Musiq 1, TV Patriot etc. have changed transponder on 1°W to 11919V. Perhaps you'd be better off scanning for BBC World News on 1°W. It's on 11862H.
