Help Choosing new sat Receiver please :)

Its my first post on this forum, so if this is in the wrong section i do apologies.

I have a mortised dish with a ID digital CI-20E satellite receiver. Every couple of months the satellite would loose signals on the Chanel and they needed a little turning of the dish to re tune them and i would do this regularly with no problem.

Now i have developed a new problem, when i store channels with with the satellite in one position(lets say far east) and no problem, when i try to re tune other Chanel's in another position(say far west) no problem again it stores all the Chanel's on a search. But when i go back to any Chanel that requires the dish to move from its current position it forgets their position. so basically its become like a stationary satellite.

I dont have the manual for the satellite receiver but have tried every conceivable option and after many months of trying i am fed up.

I even bought a cable of the Internet to try and update the firmware but for some reason the computer(or the software) does not recognise the satellite. So i cant take it anymore and want a new satellite receiver.

Only thing is that i am a noob at this stuff, lol, need a satellite to pick up channels on hotbird/kopernicus and Voice of America specifically
so want it to be a good system, i don't need fancy recording on HD services and need to be HUMAX in £100-£150 range lower the better.

Must be able to store different satellite positions(be able to move my motorised dish) and their respective Chanel's, lol

HUMAX PVR9150T or Humax Freesat Foxsat any good?

Sorry for the very long and tedious post, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi James, moved your post to the appropriate section.

Assume your using DISEqC 1.2 there for positioning rather than the usals software. Please indicate satellite dish hardware.

Most receivers within your budget will have DISEqC 1.2 and USALS software so pretty straight forward to set up and control.

If this thread steers towards dish setup, we can move it back to that section :)

thank you for moving my thread to the correct section, sorry for posting in wrong place.

I am not sure what my dish hardware is, but its bigger than the normal 60cm dish. All i know is that its motorised system and only 1 cable from the dish in installed in my satellite box.

I looked at the options for DISEqC on my satellite, unfortunately i do not have anything that say DISEqC 1.2, only option it gives me are A, B C, D i think. And if i turn on the option "" enable motorised system"" the DISEqC system grays out so you cant change. The DISEqC option was always on disabled i think.

if there is a sure fire way for me to check what my hardware is please do let me know.

anyone want to recommend me a box??

It is difficult for anyone to make a recommendation to be honest as all this equipment is still in its infancy and still receiving debugged firmware in lots of cases. Also you have not really posted much about what your requirements are.

I think your statement below is the deciding factor since you want a PVR but seem to be forgetting that a PVR requires a hard drive and often twin tuners and is thus a lot more expensive than a standard stb. Realistically I doubt you will be able to get something within your price range

Hi there

sorry for my vague descriptions and needs(dont know much about satellites unfortunately). But i don't really want PVR(if that means recording), do not require hard drive to record Chanel's. I am sure i said that in my opening thread.

Just need a normal satellite receiver to pick up Chanel's from all over the world.

by the way what is this fox sat thing?

Make sure you select all the satellites first(if its a fixed multi-LNB setup),and then scan,otherwise previous stored channels are deleted.
4.Yes,it has fixed and motorised dish options,but be warned.Switching from Freesat mode to Non-Sat mode is not a case of pressing a single button.
It is done via the menu,every time and to access the Diseqc/motorised menus,is via a secret menu,by pressing the colour buttons in the following sequence:
RED,GREEN,YELLOW BLUE,GREEN,YELLOW,BLUE

Just my pennies worth,if you are going for a new system for the first time.
I wouldn't get the Humax Foxsat,due to the hidden menu,and having to switch modes every time to access other satellites.
You are far better of with a fta (HD) receiver,if you are buying it for the HD content.

Reading the above, i am inclined to stay away from this receiver.
