im looking to buy a 5.1 system for my living room, not sure what im looking for... i have a dreambox 500 and an xbox 360, looking to spend around £150, i know i wont get anything amazing for that price but will be better than just my tele sound. Saw this on ebay:

Seems to be a reasonable bit of kit to my not very expert eye. I like the fact that it has a USB port so it can play audio and video files (including DivX and XVid). It's a shame that it doesn't have an HDMI in so it can't be used as a media hub and I don't see any mention of any ability to introduce an audio delay but then. at the moment, it's under a £100.

Just one thought. Do you have any plans to go Bluray at any time in the near future?
 
Biggest problem you'll have on a £150 budget is getting something with 2 audio inputs that will let you plug the Dreambox and Xbox 360 into it. If it has 1 that is compatible with the outputs on the 360 and dream then you can also add an audio switcher. You can basically rule out using the all-in-one unit as a video switcher, so your TV will need 3 inputs.
 
Unfortunately the Fleabay item finished a week ago and monthehoop! hasn't let us know what happened.
 
if you want to use many devices you need to spend a lot. would need to buy a decent amplifier and some speakers which will set you way over £150 depending on the system or you could buy a really good cinema system with optical outputs
