Help! I think my Dreambox is dead

Hi,

I haven't used my dreambox for a year and I got it out to use last night. The display lights up, but nothing displays and I get a blank (black) screen as output. Anybody got any ideas?

You could try re-flashing an updated image.

See the instructions in the guide - use a null modem cable and PC.
 
Yes I think its dead too, but do as Gameboy says and it will spring back to life.
 
Sorry I should have said, When I run dreamup on my PC, it doesn't see the Dreambox at all. I've also tried pinging the box via ethernet but no joy.

I'm thinking I'll have to try JTAG programming, but I haven't looked at what's involved yet.

Did you get it to work? Im having the same prob. Mine wont connect to dreamup with my null modem cabel. Mine went into black screen after i flashed it via my lan and my router went dead in the middle of it :-DOH!

Got mine working again with a new null modem cable. The old 1 was broken :-DOH2

yup, when things are this far gone its time for the Null Modem cable!!

see the idiot guide in the Dreambox section on how to do it
