Is there a dreambox I can buy that I can record (external/internal hard drive) as well as freeze/rewind live TV?

Thanks

Yeah you could buy a Dm500hd(external drive), 800hd(internal or external drive), 800se(internal or external drive), 8000hd (internal or external drive), you can pause tv with them all, but they range in price from about £320 to £850 and all of them have only a single tuner, so you can only watch the same channel as you are recording, unless they are on the same transponder, apart from the 8000hd that has twin tuners, so you could record a different channel to the one your recording, but that cost's about £850. You could buy clone versions of these, which are about £150 to £200 for the 500hd/800hd versions and about £380 for the 8000hd.

But if you want a twin tuner, i would buy a Vu + Duo they cost about £330 and are a far better machine than the vastly over priced Dreambox.

There's a lot more choice out there now for Enigma 2 Linux receiver. Look at the VU+ and Xtrends.

Xtrend ET5000, single Tuner, already gain some great image support from ViX Team, Egami and OpenPLi, can record through USB HDD and very competitive price @ £219!

Xtrend ET9000, twin tuner can fit internal 3.5" SATA image support from ViX Team, Egami and OpenPLi can purchased for £339. Supports blindscan.

VU+ Uno, fantastic new high spec model, single tuner (plug & play), image support from ViX Team, Blackhole, VTi and OpenPLi. Accepts internal SATA 3.5" HDD. Can be purchased @ £299.

VU+ Duo, superb Twin tuner, accepts internal 3.5" SATA, image support from ViX Team, Blackhole, VTi and OpenPLi + others. Can be purchased @ £339.

Hope the above helps.

Many thanks,
I will look into those, From the information i have read I willl need a box with 2 tuners and quite small in size so i can move between my 2 houses.
Can I plug any exterenal dard drive to record (USB like a PC)? Is it straight forward to program recordings?

With the VU+ Duo and Xtrend ET9000 you can fit a HDD internally, but yes you can use a USB HDD.
