help my lap top will not start !!

i have a problem starting up my lap top

the model is Windows Vista Home Premium HP Pavillion dv9000

everytime i start it up it loads up the windows vista start up screen and freezes

the start up repair has tried to repair my lap top automaticly but it ses it cannot peform start up repair automaticly and i have tried using repair tool stystem restore to clean all of my lap top to the start where it is all fresh but it stil dus not start up

any body no what i shud doo ?? pleas help !!

Try booting up and pressing the F8 key, on your keyboard, and either try last known good configuration, if that doesn't work try again and choose safe mode, then carry out a system restore.
In XP it is Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.
I'm not sure about Vista.
Please post back if this doesn't work.

Okay its working now i pressed f8
and i pressed safe mode
it came up with loading wondows files and it came up with a message box saying INSTALL WINDOWS ( Windows cannot complete installation in Safe mode. To continue installing Windows, restart the computer).
