Hi,

Have faulty Thomson HD box. Got box which was faulty. Fitted modified PSU all ok. After a days use it died. Thought PSU was to blame so measured all voltages against another but results the same.

To double check swapped PSU with another modifyed Thomson which had been working for a long period, but it didn´t work. The PSU from the faulty box was fitted in the other box and worked perfectly, so its not the PSU.

The red light on the box appears when powered up, but no fan or movement of hard drive. Red light flickers as you press backup or standby.

I have tried forcing an update but this is not possible either.

Any ideas guys? Shame to scrap it.

Have you tried swapping out the hard drive?

Not yet. Did think of that. Just fed up of opening up these boxes. Would an old Sky+ HD be ok to test with it? Say an early 40gb or would there be a problem when it tried to set up the anytime partician.

Not sure, as most people tend to put larger drives in.
