My Satellite Setup
Unsure, need help setting it up to get freesat
My Location
Derby
I just moved into a new house and the previous renters had sky and I was hoping to install freesat, went to set it up the other day and it said "the receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak" and when I do a channel scan it says "Antenna signal detected. (LNB only)". Absolute satellite noob so put it in layman terms lol, thanks

Which Freesat receiver are you using? The current offering will work with either the traditional Universal LNBs or the new Wideband LNBs introduced for Sky Q. Older ones will only work with a Universal LNB. Do you know what system the previous tenant had?

Did they say what type of Sky? If it was SkyQ it will be a wideband LNB, essentially the bit on the dish arm. Which means it won't work with freesat.

If the dish is accessible maybe you can take photos of the LNB part at the end of the dish arm and we can confirm.

What receiver are you using? Most likely the dish and LNB is from a previous Sky Q installation. The only Freesat boxes that work with a Sky Q LNB are the Freesat 4K models. The other option is to change the LNB for a Sky mk4 universal quad. A photo of the LNB will help determine what you currently have.

edit: beaten to it x2 :-doh

Thanks for the reply guys, I'm not sure if they had sky Q or not. I've got a Humax HDR-1100S. I'll have to get a ladder and get a photo. Say it was a sky Q LNB could i change the LNB to a non 4K one until i see a 4k freesat box at a decent price then change it back?
