help opening blue ART card on dm500s

1.2m dish
Shuttle XPC 2.4ghz
Wireless 54g
I have just got a new 6 month 'self activating' blue ART card (viaccess 2) for my dm500s. I am having trouble opening it - tried newcamd/camd3/newcs/mgcamd but no luck :confused: has anyone had any luck with these cards? i heard that i might need an original viaccess red cam to open the card - is this true?

Welcome (first post) :)

Did you install the config files as well as the emus? You may need to edit the config file to tell it the slot to use as some Dreamboxes have 2 slots.

im prety sure i have the config files set up since my "access card 9" works fine. the cardreader device is /dev/sci0 on my dm500. this art card uses viaccess 2.5 so i guess i need a softcam that supports this.. or some other way of activating it
 
Sorry can't help you further as I don't have an ART card. Did you find anything using "search" in this section?
 
looks like this card is not supported by dreambox slot .. i will send it back :mad:
 
it's not even being picked up as a card in every softcam i have tried. i believe i need either a viaccess red cam or viacess embedded reciever to activate the card before it can be used.

No need to send your card back as it will work fine, Use camd3 latest and also give us a little more info about your set up such as image and is it connected to the net?
 
im using gemini 3.2.0 20.10.2006 on a DM500S . Got it directly linked to the net and d/l camd3 3.880i via blue panel menu . my access card 9 works fine with this setup. At the moment i have it tuned to ART Sport 1 staring at a black screen !. any more help apprecieted thanks
 
When I had my art card I had to leave it on art sport overnight to get it to activate but rest assured it will work in your box.
 
ok i will leave it on overnight and let you know . just a bit worried as it is not detecting/ initialising the card (says the slot is empty)

Oh, Not good, the other option is to try gbox which works 100%
 
i will try gbox... you dont happen to know where i can get the latest version from ? not on the usual place i goto

Sorry mayjay, you will have to do that work yourself.
 
found gbox and tried .. all i get from output log is

"have to init card 1"

(dreamcrypt card works again fine...)

so this card is broken i think

nothing will activate it
 
this card wont work in a friends technomate recevier either so most likely broken card.

update:
sent card back to supplier. he activated it and now it works in dreambox with gbox :)
