Hi, sorry if this has been covered before, but there is soo much info here and I am getting more and more confused.

I am not able to get Sly multiroom, so I thought maybe I could do the same with Dreamboxes. I want to use one Sly sub and use it on three different Dream Boxes in the same house at the same time.

My questions are:

* what are the cheapest boxes I could buy that would do this,

* how do I connect them so one card runs them all (not on the internet please - though I have been told it might be possible by using a router that isn't connected to the internet),

* And if possible links to the relevant tutorials on what software and how to load it pref one that a dim wit like me could understand.

Thanks in advance.

I've not done it but you could probably buy aDM500s or DM600s and two DM100s and set-up a CCcam cardshare between them.

Very briefly: connect them all to a router, install CCcam, set one up as a Server and share to the other two as a Friend.

Also, consider your dish/ dishes. Unless you have three motorised dishes or a dish with a mono-bloc (can't quite remember the term but 2 or 3 LNBs on a bracket) all Dreamboxes will limited by where the dish is pointed.

As mhku has suggested will work just fine, the only thing if cost is an issue is to use DM500s clones which are about £50. Just avoid putting the gemini image in it and you will be fine.
Also to share around your house you don't need to be connected to the net but homeplugs are great is you want to cut down on wires.

Ok, I'll put a little more detail into this. You mention specifically Sly TV, so lets take it as you have a standard sly dish on the wall already.
1. You will need to fit a quad LNB to this dish to give you 4 outputs.
2. Take a coax from each of the LNB outputs to each of your Dreamboxes.
3. If you buy clone boxes install a PLi or Nabilosat image for example, do not install a Gemini image.
4. Have each box connected to a router.
5. I recommend entering the mac address of each box in the router so it assigns a static IP. This will stop any trouble later on.
6. Install CCcam (latest version is 2.0.11) on all boxes.
7. Put sly card in server box.
8. Edit CCcam.cfg file in server box as follows.

SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000
F: BOX1 PASSWORD 1:0:0 {0:0:1}
F: BOX2 PASSWORD 1:0:0 {0:0:1}

Save this file in the correct location. (That is box dependant).

9. Edit CCccam.cfg in Box1 as follows

C: 192.168.0.10 12000 BOX1 PASSWORD no

Save this file in the correct location. (That is box dependant).

10. Edit CCcam.cfg in Box2 as follows

C: 192.168.0.10 12000 BOX2 PASSWORD no

Save this file in the correct location. (That is box dependant).

NOTE:- 192.168.0.10 is the IP address of your server box. As I mentioned earlier, its a good idea to set this as a static IP in your router so that if the box reboots for any reason the DHCP in your router always gives it this address.

NOTE:- This method will not work on the HD dreamboxes, DM800 & DM8000, they cannot read a sly card with the internal reader. However, there's another way to do it, if you decide to go the whole hog when buying your boxes.

So to recap , you enter 3 lines in the server box config, and 1 line in each of the client boxes. Don't be scared by CCcam its really that easy.

Hope this helps.
Regards
MCC.

Thanks Guys,

Glad its possible. Think I will wait until the new Sly cards come out (rumours of it happening in April) incase the new cards render dreamboxes obsolote by stopping card sharing

Are all copy boxes not compatable with all software, saw this advertised " BLACKBOX 500S is an OEM product of the Dreambox 500S
and is the EXACT SAME. You can use the same software too.."

B16MCC - I might have to pm you ww I get my gear if thats ok with you if i get stuck setting things up.

Thanks again Guys :-worship

Always happy to help. I've not heard of the new card but I'd hazard a guess at it being an NDS3 card. Sky Italia are using them already. The only limitation is on the DM800 / DM8000 where you have to use NewCS with the internal card reader, or if you want to stick to CCcam then you'll need a smargo external reader. It certainly doesn't stop CS.
