HELP PLEASE! Maxtor diamondmax 10 200gb problem

Hi Guys,
Reading about all your successful Sky Plus Upgrades gave me the confidence to try it myself.
As usual with me, it didn't work out. !
When I connect the new drive, Sky plus refuses to work, it won't even come out of standby.
When I reconnect the old one, it springs back to life.
Is there something I'm missing.
My new drive is Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200gb, pata133.
I've checked the jumpers on the new drive and it's set at CS enabled, which I think means cable selected.
I can't think of anything else to do.
So any help would be much appreciated.

after connecting the power, you might have to wait a while as Sky+ needs to prepare the disk. How long did you wait and what instructions did you follow?

Also if it still fails, google for "ultimate boot cd" and think about a low-level format of the new disk.

You could try a forced update. I believe Sky messed about with software for larger discs recently.
