Help Please with LNB Setup and Fixed Dish

Hi all

Bit of advice and guidance needed please.

I have a Sky Zone 1 dish and a 60cm Faval dish (with monoblock for 13e and 19.2e). I am using two boxes at present (Sky and TM500).

Ideally, my other half only wants one dish on the front of the house. Are there any options where by I can get access to all 3 satellites off one fixed dish? I propose to take down the sky dish and use the 60cm dish as standard.

The 60cm is feeding my 13e and 19.2e satellites at the moment with a very strong signal, so i'm hopeful this will be do-able.

You could get yourself an offset bracket, there are some available which attach onto the neck of an existing LNB. Which side of the monoblock is clamped to the dish?

The left hand side of the LNB is clamped to the holder (as you look at the dish from behind).

Do you have any links for the offset bracket?
 
With a 60cm dish, you'd be better off focussing on 19E instead, if you wanted 28E

If I focus on 19e, can I still get 13e in addition to 28e?
 
Yep, should be able to. You are getting 13E and 19E now, focussed on 13E, focussing on 19E instead would still enable you to get 13E as well, no problem, I have done it may times. I have never put 13,19 and 28 on a 60cm dish, but possible I belive from posts I have read. No harm in trying..


But as I say, focus on 19E instead of 13E will give it a better chance.
 
Well, bit of an update as to where I am with my dish setup.

I've recently looked into a set up which would allow me to recieve 13e, 19.2e and 28.2e off the one dish. The other half wasnt too keen on having a massive dish on the front of the house so we agreed on a 60cm dish.

Installed not long back and all working fine. I have a 60cm ISS mesh dish with lnb bracket. 2 single lnbs pointing to 13e and 19.2e with a quad lnb on 28.2e. I have a sky hd box and sky+ box directly connected to 3 of the lnb outputs on 28.2e and one goes into the 4x diseq switch with the two feeds from 13e and 19.2e. These feed into my technomate tm500.

Had a few signal issues at first but after a bit of playing about, managed to get it working ok. The dish is focused on 19.2e.

Signal strengths as I type:
28.2E - 89%
19.2E - 84% - i would have thought this would be stronger as the dish is focussed onto this satellite!!
13.0E - 86%

Still, everything seems to be working OK so far. I dont have a great closeup of the dish, but I'm sure you can work it all out on the pic below.

That sounds like a pretty decent all round result for a 60cm dish!

I shouldn't worry about the precise figures for Signal Strength ............ It depends to some extent upon how the Receiver implements "metering": They all seem to have foibles and are best used for optimisation on a relative basis rather than to attain some not necessarily meaningful specific figure. In fact, one of my own boxes (An ancient Fortec Star ) resolutely gives 98% reported Strength for a nearly aligned dish, yet drops to 64% for dead accurate alignment. It's just a characteristic of a poorly implemented metering function.

If meaningful numbers are really important, the best way is to use a professional stand-alone meter.
