help with jack motor

My Satellite Setup
1.2M Channel Master, C120 Invacom 0.3 LNB & Feedhorn, with Tm.Vbox &Technomate 5402HD

Hi ive got jack motor fitted all wired up m1 m2 etc then other 2 cables im getting er2 on the screen on the tm-vbox 111 ive tried everything guys
 
Have you connected the motor up correctly. Re-check and make the cables again.
 
ya i double checked mate
 
i messed up at first opened wrong end all magnets came out but i put that right after,

Can be tricky getting them back in correctly with the springs; you'll know if the motor doesn't turn ;)

Er2 refers to no pulse feedback, possibly reed sensor could be dead. You can also get an Er2 message when the jack is at a mechanical limit.
 
You think its still them springs i did fit them back in,ill try gain in morning football is on now :)
 
Those are not magnets but carbon brushes for the motor, if one of the bare copper wires are contacting the motor case you wont have motor movement.

Also they have to be in the correct positions to contact the motors armature.

The curved part (see photo) needs to contact the motors armature correctly or the motor wont turn, the curved side should contact the armature flush to the rotor, and all wires must not contact any metal case.

Thanks m8 it was touching the sides ill have a go in morning let you know how i get on THANKS
 
I fixed it guys what i do now dish is at 1w, do i move motor half way then put motor back on the mount then set it up by the box ?
 
Sounds like a good plan.

What was it that enabled you to get it working after the dodgy start?

it was the 2 carbon bits with springs i had take it all apart just get them to fit in very tricky job lol soon as i done that it started up no problem
 
Disconnect jack from the dish, undo the bolts holding the rear part of the jack. Extend the motor around the half way mark. Attach back to dish, pull jack back to where the dish face is at 1w and tighten rear jack fixing on the polar mount.

One last thing how do i lock dish so it doesn't go over side it did it today scratched all my motor etc and on the polar mount there's 2 holes which one is it i use
 
Undo the screw and adjust the cams which in turn make with the micro switches. These are the end stops and set the travel required.

In addition, add limits on the Vbox.
 
Nice to see there are still people out there (ab)using real motors.
 
ok guys got problems when i try turn motor east only goes so far then i get er2 on screen i think its as far as motor can go there no limits do i need to push motor more east then bolt it up here are screens

er2 message again sounds like you've hit the limit on the motor, from the pictures the actuator does look to be near the limit.

how far have you gone east ?
 
Certainly a mechanical limit from the images. What size actuator is that?
 
The East limit would be when the inner rod is nearly fully retracted into the housing, and you are nowhere near that in the photos you have posted. Are you sure you don't mean west limit.

Have you disconected the motor from the dish arm to check that the dish moves freely in all directions.

It is possible someone has set the two cams inside the motor incorrectly so worth checking those also. Do you know the source of the motor? If it is a new motor, the east and west limits are normally set as wide apart as possible.
