Help with Thor 1W

Hi All
Am a complete Novice to all this, but had a little setup that was pointed to Thor W1. Am i right in saying this has now been retired ? Anyone know where I now need to point my dish to receive the equivalent ?

Exactly which Channels are you after?
 
Well it was already in the house when we moved in, up until recently it used to pick up a few channels for the kids, and some news channels.. now it has all gonee off, and someone told me that the thor 1w it was pointing at had gone off line, and that I need to move the dish slightly to find its replacement.
 
Its still in the same place it always has been, there not a great deal FTA on it now though if thats what you are after...

You don't need to worry about 0.8W and 1W. The satellites have always been at 0.8W it's just easier to type 1W than 0.8W maybe thats where your friend is confused
 
Great, thanks for that ! Has it changed recently then ? Just strange its all gone off all of a sudden.
 
The main thing that has changed recently at 1W is that the last main compromised pay tv package has changed its encryption and is no longer available without subscription..

Theres still a reasonable number of fta channels around although most of them seem to be in scandanavian languages!
