This is how i am thinking of setting this up i have no wifi at my boat i have the Samsung galaxy 2 mobile with 500mb download a month internet i can use the mobile tethering as wifi to my pc
My question is
1 how much of the 500mb will it use if any

i am not very good with all this technology so i need all the help i can get

You will go through a 500mb allowance in no time - probably a couple of hours or so :D

Agreed. I did some tests recently from the UK to France and I managed about 1mbps upload speed for a decently watchable picture. Now for the maths...

1mbps = 60mb/minute = 360mb/hr. Divide by 8 to get megabytes = 45mB/hr so you're talking of 11 hours ideally. And it won't be ideal beacuse there will be other overheads.

You might be correct to worry about latency and buffering but I did a 15 minute test with a 3G dongle on a laptop locally and didn't notice any problems.
