Hi all I work in the CCTV intruder and electrical business. I went to an alarm job yesterday for a Russian and he has a small dish about 1 meter planted on his lawn with 3 LNB bolted on. He has a LOT of channels Hotbird and two other satellites. What sort of receiver do I need to get these channels also can I receive Nile sat?? Does the receiver need chipped or upgraded ETC thanks for the info. PS My main interest in NASCAR on Showtime if there is another way of receiving it all the better but my understanding is that the USA satellites are over the horizon is that correct many thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. 
For Nilesat you will need a substantial dish, almost certainly bigger than 1.2m, unless it is a high quality dish like a Channel Master 1.2 with matched Feedhorn.
Most of the other sats will work for you ona motorised 90cm or 1m dish.
There are lots of suitable receivers available, but if you plan to motorise a bigger dish, you may need to use a V-Box as an interface for the 36v motor.
