Hi and a little advice needed please

Hello. I hope you don't mind me turning up here. I appreciate this is mainly for satellites, however, I need some advice regarding Freeview HD. I have a built in reciever and the past few nights, after a certain time, reception on the three HD channels has become almost imposible. Indeed, the stations vanished completly last night. I contacted digital uk about it and was told it was a fasult with my equipment. Now, I find this hard to believe as firstly my landlords have very recently upgraded all dishes etc and wiring. Secondly, the poor reception is occuring at the same time each night. I am, apparently, under the Crystal Palace transmitter.

If anyone here could give me an inkling as to what might be happening, or where I can go to to try to sort this, I should be very grateful.

Hi mate welcome to the forum. Whilst we are predominantly a satellite forum, we do cover DTT as well.

This sounds like a case of external interference to me. The same time each night would suggest something like a badly shielded thermostat or motor kicking in on a timer. You dont have the central heating coming on at this time do you? Or maybe someone runs their wahing machine nearby and the brushes are worn on it?

The other thing to remember is that London hasnt done DSO yet so the DTT HD transmissions will be very low power for the next couple of years.
 
Crystal Palace has been doing quite a few upgrades in the past couple of weeks, it may be that at some unearthly hour, there may be a drop in power as the engineers do their stuff.

Secondly, your signal will be received from an aerial, any dish upgrades by your landlord will not make any difference.

Is it exactly the same time each day/night?
How long does it last ?
Are any other channels affected ?
 
Thanks for the prompt replies, guys. When I said dishes, I should have stated they also upgraded the aerial too. I think you may be right about the work being carried out as it's just too regular - and late at night - to be someone using a washing machine etc, though I am looking at some dirty electricity problems also which affect my dvd harddrive.... its all go here, LOL.

Its just the 3 HD freeview channels, BBC, ITV1 and 4HD. The other channels are fine.

You don't say what time it is, but if you are near the town centre, could be the Police Tetra mast kicking in as the streets get busy, had this wiping out the TV signal in an office in Reading during the world cup.
