Advice Needed HMF D-78737 bath spa

A friend has asked me to look at this.... It's basically what looks like a vacuum cleaner motor in a plastic casing which also contains a heating element. It blows warm air through a mat in the bath.

The motor, which wasn't running, is controlled by a simple triac circuit. I suspect worn/stuck brushes which in the course of my investigation are now free and the motor runs, but it's a shame not to repace brushes while it's in bits.

Does anyone recognise the motor? Otherwise I'll buy some from their dimensions. The measure 4.9 x 7.9, so I guess 5 x 8 is the size to buy. They have a groove down the narrower side, presumably to stop them popping out if they wear right down. I see some on Fleabay that look possible, otherwise sooty fingers coming up.

Any thoughts?

Can't see enough of the motor to make an ID of it, and the numbers don't show up anything either (probably too old judging by the 04/01 date code), as for the brushes, you can usually get away with getting a larger set of brushes and sand & file them down carefully, never seen that shape brush holder myself in any of the motors I've taken apart over the past few years...

Is that any better on the motor? Looking at this pic, the brush holders slide in from the top. They need to be held back to get past the frame and then they pop out onto the com. There's a thermal cutout in the glass tube strapped to the field winding.

Nope, it's got me stumped, all I can suggest is what you've already thought of doing, filing down some brushes to fit, can't see anything in my searching about that looks close enough to call it a match, it's probably an in-house design for that particular spa manufacturer (if they're still around, maybe give them a prod to see if they have spares?), though looking at the shape of it, I'm guessing it's a 4.3" motor, so plenty of complete (with plenty of easy-to-obtain brushes!) motors out there to replace it if need be... :)
 
OK, Thanks for your input. The manufacturer is defunct. I've ordered some brushes that look about right and which are cheap enough. I'll report back.
