I want to install my own sky installation, just a basic setup. I want to fit a basic sky box and single dish. Main reason I want it is so I can receive BT Sport. I will be able to get a viewing card on subscription from my internet ISP Plusnet. What I don't want is to end up having to subscribe to Sky as well,as I really don't want the Sky Channels. Talked to some Sky people with stall in our local shopping area but all they want to do is sell me a New set up. I am struggling to know exactly what to buy, looking on EBay I see a few almost new Amstrad Sky HD boxes,not the Sky + ones. These look ideal, Would this be OK with a new dish and single ariel cable.I am not sure on the HD box side of it, I don't need HD. I am fairly OK with fitting it, but would probably get a Ariel fitter to line the dish up. I am worried I may have problems with Sky blocking the box, any help appreciated. I want to get this sorted fairly soon before the Moto GP season starts in March.
 
I don't believe you need to subscribe to Sky to get BT Sport. Don't BT supply you with a card if you don't have one?

Plusnet will supply a card for BT sport and basic free sky channels for about £9 a month to Plusnet internet users. To use on Sky platform. M just concerned about fitting a used sky box.
 
You can fit anything you want , Sky can't and won't do nothing about it .
