I have a pre usb meter
but i think the batteries no good as wont hold charge
could i get AA rechargeables to solder togetheras cant justify 50 for new batts for old meter.

as when and if work picks up will buy a new one ayway

Did you ever get this sorted out, I am the same position, ie, old com port pre USB version of the meter that I rarely use and hope to get an alternative battery pack instead of paying the full price for the Horizon pack?

Great old meter the V2.5. Sadly getting left behind now with some HD-only sat's :-(
For what it's worth- I use mine almost daily (I prefer it to the USB model), I made up a battery pack using six NiMH 'C' cells. 9.5AH off a certain well-known auction site. It's a squeeze getting them in, ideally you have to take the back off the meter- but they do fit. The extra capacity is really useful for driving DiSEqC motors or even greedy quads.
