Hotbird 13D redeployment

34.5°E would become an Arabsat slot in a distant future (Arabsat 6E).
I put my money on 33°E (but only a little bit). Because:
- The present Eutelsat 33D has several transponders on, apparently without any content.
- A couple of weeks ago, in the Eutelsat website under 33°E, Eutelsat 33B has re-appeared although dead & buried already.
A goof-up , or is the site preparing already for something?
The fleet - EUTELSAT 33B satellite - Eutelsat
The 33B link has been removed a few days ago.

Instead, Eutelsat 33E now appears in the Azimuth / Elevation calculator:
Eutelsat : Azimuth / Elevation
It wasn't there in Google's cache of 25 March.

That pretty much settles it I guess! Arrival near 33°E will be on 7 April at the earliest.

Funny thread.
It seems that already has destination, anyway, if someone needs your services.:-rofl2

Divertido hilo.
Parece que ya tiene destino, de todas formas, si alguien necesita sus servicios.

So it looks like 33 east is about to become a Eutelsat Hot Spot :)

If 33 east is going to become a Eutelsat hot spot isn't it going to cause problems with Astra 5B being only 1.5 degrees away unless there is some co-operation?

Yes timo, I think 11.7...12.5 GHz can not be used by Eutelsat, at least not towards the footprints of Astra 5B.
The rest should be OK.

This morning on 33°E, 10.95...11.2 and 11.45...11.7 GHz Horizontal were re-arranged, the "empty" transponders are gone.
Several new peaks instead, but no locks yet.
I think they don't match the frequency plan of Hot Bird 13D, but at least something is going on...

With over 122 transponders spaces available at each location with 3 degrees of satellite separation,

Astra 5B @ 31.5 east has 28 allocations here with only 16 active transponders so even if they used all 28 that will leave 92 transponders spaces available for SES/Eutelsat to use more than enough even with a frequency sharing plan,

28.2 east has 84 active transponders + 6 data streams
19.2 east has 113 active transponders + 2 data streams
13 east has 96 active transponders + 1 Multi-Stream

Right, so some kind of agreement must have been made, even if it's just a temporary one. You'd think eventually SES would want to launch more satellites for 31.5E if the slot takes off but right now I guess they aren't going to fill up all of Astra 5B anyway. I wonder if in the long term Eutelsat would launch satellites with tighter footprints for 33E that avoid Eastern Europe so they can use more frequencies. Maybe the Eutelsat Quantum satellites would be useful for this roll.

This satellite is equipped to cover the entire Ku band 10:7 to 12:75GHz

Feeds & lot's of them hopefully 100cm dish may work ok but at 42 dBW in the East of England 120 to 150 cm dish range according to the map :(
Maybe we will loose signals with rain fade as we will now be on the edge of the footprint for E33E

33E footprint will not please everybody. :D

Yeah, that looks like 33E is pointing quite a bit further south and east than 33D.

This overlaps Astra 5B quite considerably.
