Hi,

I've been watching the Spanish channels on Hotbird 8 up to recently. However, I can't seem to get them any more. I little of investigation shows that I can receive Hotbird 9 channels (with almost 100% quality signal) but not the ones in Hotbird 8. I thought that if I could get signal on HB9 I should get a good enough signal on HB8 but it obviously not the case.

Has any one had similar issues?

Any help is much appreciated...

Thanks a lot,

Sergio

Have you tried a channel re-scan?

Yes, I have. I've also tried to 'tune' on 11727V / 27500 and it finds nothing. Am I right in thinking that if I receive channels from HB 9 there is no reason not to receive the ones in HB 8?

Try tuning channels below 11.7 and above on both polarities. You only need to try 4 as a test.

The Satellites are effectively co-located and are all high power, so get one, get them all.

Your problem, therefore, is not related to which of the Hotbird birds you are trying to receive, but must be due to an error or omission at your end.

I've only tried 1 but I thought it was worth posting it. I've tried 10723H and it works. What does this mean?

You need to try the four options requested to determine if there is an lnb problem

It means you are getting Low Band Horizontally Polarised Channels.

As Satelliteman and Topper say, you now need to check if you are getting Low Band Vertical, High Band Horizontals and High Band Verticals.

The results will guide us to the cause of the problem, which could be something like incorrect LNB settings, duff LNB, incorrect LNB skew ................. or, equally likely, you haven't got the full range of valid Transponders stored.

Right, I've tried the 4 options and they all work: 10723 H, 10949 V, 12015 H and 12149 V. The only one that doesn't work is 11727 V. So when I said before that I couldn't get any channels on HB8 I was wrong... Is there anything else that I've might done wrong with 11727V?

11727 is on the cusp of the border between Low Band and High Band so it might be related to the characteristics of your particular LNB in some way. ie Inadequate gain at the bottom of each band, or a local oscillator that is out of kilter sufficiently to cause the LNB to react incorrectly to band switching commands ie Staying in low band rather than flipping to high band.

What LNB do you have?

I don't know... I bought it in Maplins some time ago... I can take a look if it helps. The thing is that it was working a couple of weeks ago. Could it be broken?
