Would suggest your setup is the most likely cause, otherwise millions of people would be complaining. Suggest checking your dish and lnb for slight movement in view of the high winds we have been having, failing that you could have a failing lnb or water ingress into the cable from the dish
Yes it would affect all frequencies, but you may not be seeing the effect on other frequencies. Not all transponders are of equal strength/as easy to receive, so that one could be just slightly worse than the rest, stopping you getting a pic on that one, but still managing it on the others.
Check your signal quality on that TP, and compare to the others, what do you get?
I have a Topfield PVR6000 which has two readings for level and quality. For most Hotbird Channels it shows around 75 & 100 but for this frequency it is 75 & 0. A broken picture will appear and then go again.
A common problem with a marginally misaligned dish. You will lose one or two frequencies which are slightly weaker than the others at your location. I always know when my Sky dish has moved or the lnb is iced up as I lose the Vintage TV frequency.
Sorry, are you referring to the actual docking station for the phone. If so it is in another room and location hasn't changed since the last time I was able to view the frequency.
Unfortunately, the Company who originally set up the dish - I think it was called a Gemini - are no longer in business so I will need to get someone else out. Most of the satellite fitters I have spoken to appear pretty clueless beyond fixing up Sky dishes - any advice on finding a reputable fitter preferably in the Midlands area?
It would still do no harm to power the base unit down and see if the situation changes - the work of a few seconds.
The passage of time can lead to degradation in the integrity of the cable from the Dish to the Receiver and L Band interference (such as this, possibly) can exploit weaknesses in shielding caused by damage, degradation or poorly screened connections.
