How can I split LNB

My Satellite Setup
Motherboard: Evga Nvidia chipset 860i. Cpu: Amd x2 64 3.0 ghz each (OC). Sky+ hd downstairs. 58" TV Upstairs sky+ 19" TV

Hi guys my parents just got me a sky + box from their other house that is rented. BAsiclly at my house i have a satallite dish with a dual block lnb but only one output. So how can i split it can i split it using a normal terristol tv splitter or what?. thatks guys :d :P:)
 
You can't do this easily. The LNB connection is two way ie Not only does it feed signal to Box, but the each Tuner of the Box sends switching signals to the LNB. If you try to split the signal, switching conflicts occur.

Your simplest and cheapest approach is to replace the LNB with one with two outputs (In practice, Sky ones have one, four, or eight outputs but non-Sky ones are available with two outputs).

As for the dual block with one output, that sounds like a "Monoblock" and is for looking at two Satellites 6 degrees (most commonly apart) and it has an inbuilt DiSEqC switch, hence only requiring one cable.

Is this LNB fully used, or can it be binned?

If the Dish has a monoblock, it may need re-aligning as they are usually used for 19E and 13e.

Yh i will upload a pic tomrrow. by the way i am using that cureent monoblock in my sky + lnb but i cant record and watch another channel :(
 
Easiest way is to buy a 'Quad LNB' off Ebay they're cheap enough.
 
hello.
if you want to use one dish for 2 decoders in the same house you will need a dual output lnb.
this is because some frequencies are horz and some are vert not to mention high and low band.
if you split the signal and connect 2 boxes then they both want to be the boss of one lnb.
if one box is watching a channel that is horz poleration and the other one wants a channel on vert then there is a conflict and the higher voltage may win out.
a dual output lnb runs arround 15 euro and after you align the dish each box can run without effecting the other..
the monoblock is used for 2 satellits like 19 east and 13 east they are 6 degrees apart. in this case the switching is not used at all.
you can even have a 4 or 8 output lnb and run 8 sky boxes in a in the same building as well.
the more the outputs the lnb the more it will cost.
