Why do people want their accounts deleted? Whats wrong with leaving and not coming back?

I'd rather they did ask to be removed, rather than leave them active and then report our newsletters as spam. We do have a regular clear out anyway, as anyone who hasn't posted and hasn't visited for a year, is unlikely to need their membership.
