Hi,

I'm looking for advice on how to receive British channels in Sweden. I live south of Borås and would very much appreciate any information on what type of dish and box I would need, also where these items can be sourced and what, approximately, would be the cost.

I have followed several older postings on this site (from 2003/4) but would like some up to date information - if any exists!

Advice, help and information is all welcome. I am a complete novice to the world of satellite but would like to get my freeview channels connected in Sweden.

Cheers S.

Lots of threads on Stockholm reception, I know it's further North, but if you look at those, they recommend a 1.2m dish, so you may be able to get away with a 1m dish where you are (Edit: not the case, see following post). I'm sure a couple of our Swedish members will see this thread.:)

Hi!

I use to live in Landvetter and now live in Gothenburg and you will need a good quality 1.8m dish to get BBC, C4, 5, etc from Borås. Stockholm with a 1.2m dish is an exception to the rule!

I have a 1.8m Channel Master dish and this was shipped from Germany for around €800 which is a pretty good price. Avoid buying cheaper petal dishes that you can get from eBay around £100 - £200, these will be pretty unreliable at best (I went down this route a fews years ago).

Also keep in mind that unless you have good knowledge of installing large dishes then you will need your dish to be professionally installed - This can be expensive in Sweden!

Cheers,

Martin

Thanks for that Martin, just goes to show how nothing is predictable with fringe reception.:)
