How do those clever type's come up with the key's that you find posted elsewhere?

do they just sit with a remote changting hex key's until they get a picture then post em on the net, or is there some magic software for randomly generating key's or even finding the key's hidden in some data transmission or something?

or maybe its one of life's great mystery's ;)
 
Basically these are geeks that are both smart and have plenty of time who use complex algorithms to calculate and forcast keys.
