Hi..i have as most here 2 sat boxes, 1 dvd recorder and 1 tv and i'm
trying to figure the best way to hook them all up.
Up untill now i've been swapping scarts with my technomate and my
dvd recorder but after upgrading my recorder i'm looking to set them
up so i can avoid this.
My samsung LCD has 2 scarts-1 hdmi
sky box 2 scarts
technomate 5400 2 scarts
my new sony dvd recorder 2 scarts 1 hdmi

I have a scart splitter cable but never seem to be able to get
it together, with one of these cables say i have my 2 sat boxes
in the splitter then into my dvd if 1 box is switch.

My new sony dvd recorder has 1 scart for line in-sky box and 1 scart for line out to tv, I tried just using this scart for my second box-technomate 5400 but wont work. The line 2 in on my recorder has red white and yellow as does my technomate.
any tips

thanks

MARK

I have a similar setup but with 3 decoder boxes plus a DVD/HDD recorder, and one of the decoders has HDMI, so one more than you have, anyway this is how I would do it:

Decoder 1 scart to TV Scart.
Decoder 2 scart to TV Scart
Connect recorder to TV using HDMI
Decoder 1, 2nd scart output to recorder.
Decoder 2 2nd scart output to recorder.

With this you will be able to watch all sources, and record from both sat receivers.

Robbo:)

Thanks...that would work perfect but the-Decoder 2 2nd scart output to recorder-this wont work with a scart.
1 scart on the recorder takes a decoder and is -line1 in on the recorder
the other scart on the recorder is a line3 out scart to tv and wont work as
a line in with the decoder, i cant change it to a line in, would any of the other line ins work.
Its a brand new model of recorder-SonyHXD890-

There must be another line in somewhere, as just one scart input is pathetic.

You probably have some red/yellow/white phono inputs somewhere, you could use these to receive a feed from one of the decoders. If the decoder does not have red/yellow/white outputs, you can use a scart to phono adapter.

I know what your saying , this is sonys new flagship recorder but for 2 decoders
it's inputs suck---red white and yellow on decoder to the same on the recorder.
Need to get the cables 1st but i'll let you know.

I have been re-configuring my setup today (I have a Sony HDD recorder too).

The scart that should go to the TV allows inputs too, as well as the other scart. I have no HDMI on the recorder, so I'm using RGB component, which means that I can use both scarts for input.

I had to make some cables up as I need 5m long x5, since I have loads of sat cable around, I used that.:-rofl2
