Hello guys,

I have been working for Sky for few years and by now learned all ins and outs about their products. However I have a big request to ask- from all of those who work as Sky engineers- any tips on how to get the job?

My product knowledge is exquisite, I'm passionate about the job, done quite a few engineering projects, but am not sure of what exactly are they looking for in "keywords" and such on application.

Any advise appreciated

If you have been working for 'them' recently, why are you now looking for a job with 'them'?

What has changed in the interim?

I've never worked for Sky (though I have been subcontracted to carry out work at two of their complexes when my contacts have scratched heads without releasing answers).

If you have internal connections in the company then somebody immediately above you , departmental hr would be my suggestion, what job were/are you doing for them btw ?

Any engineering job with the company, despite being classed as equal opportunity, is going to have some bias on the physical attributes, 20/20 vision for example in editing suites/studios, full or near motor capability in maintaining server rooms, and general fitness in anything that requires lifting and/or more than hand tool operation.

What work do you wish to progress to (assuming you are trying to climb the corporate ladder).

Just reading that twaddle of $ly's makes me soooo glad that I'm not out there looking for a job. The corporate newspeak just makes me want to throw up.

Here here! Not in the job market, but all the bo11ocks with targets, aims, objectives etc., Convinces me I'd be unemployable. I suppose that's what you get when the corporate eye is off the ball and the personnel function elevates itself to be a profession. :-(

There must be (as in all big companies) some internal only correspondence to ensure those that know the workings are offered first dibs on any role. HR at the specific department Braske works in would know how to tap into it. The only reason it might not currently available is down to the o/p being too valuable in their existing position.

Thats my big issue here- I'm earning really decent wage in current position, meeting targets and would not be able to get help by any management to move into different sectors ;)
Also Sky doesn't like to promote/move people from within.
Anyway, is there anyone with some valuable advice and not immature personal opinions of the company haters? :)
