how to catch dvb channels

satellite reciever: dreamax dt 470

Hi guys,
I have dreamax dt 470 reciever, I have set my dish to Asiasat 3s, I look for the channels frequency on lygsat, but the prob is when i set the frequency and tpscan only the channels which have "F" infront of them in lyngsat appears on my reciever but the channels which have "DVB" infront of them doesnt appear, y is that?? can i catch DVB channels??
 
'F' simply means they are free to air, and on Lyngsat, have a yellow background. DVB against the package provider's name shows the type of transmission, and the channels below the provider can be either FTA or encrypted, and are the ones you find when you scan.

The provider is not an actual channel, that's why you don't see it when you scan the transponder.

If there's no channels shown below the provider, that's because there is just the one channel on that TP.

thx for the reply, now i want to know one more thing, I can catch all the channels on Asiasat 3s, except "BBC Farsi", "IRIB", I mean to say that on lyngsat under asiasat the first table of the channels my reciever catchs but as you scroll down to the next table which includes the channels such as "BBC Farsi" they dont appear on my reciever, y is that?? seems the freq is too high like 12325V, is that the reason?? how to catch those channels??

Which type of LNB are you using?
The first table with 4 digits for frequency can be received with a "C" band (or is it "L" band LNB, while the second table with 5 digits for frequency you would need a Ku band LNB.

It's "C" Band :)

"L" Band is roughly equivalent to the 980 GHz to 2.1 GHz Satellite cable IF.

What it exactly is depends upon the context and the application, but that's roughly it.

Nominally 1 to 2 GHz by one definition. Not by others!
 
Thankyou llew, i think i have a "c" band lnb, which one is better?? "c" or "l"?? from ur answer i assume that ku band lnb is the best as it can catch all the channels whehter 4 digit freq or 5 digit freq, plz confirm if im right, thankyou

You will need both C and Ku
 
lleww, thx for reply once again, I have a 2.4m mesh round dish and i have a dreamax dt470 reciever, can u please tell me an lnb to use by which i can catch all the channels on asia sat3s, meaning all c band and ku band channels, is it possible?? if yes then how??
 
The DMX741 is a combined C/KU LNB. That might be OK. It is possible to mount a C and KU LNB together on a prime focus dish with a modification of the feedhorn, but some DIY skill is involved. Can't help further, as I don't do C-Band myself.
