How to Control Dreambox with a different Remote Control?

Is it possible to reprogram/use the Dreambox with a different remote control?

(I have a serial Lirc interface and a lirc.conf file to the remote I wish to use.)
Is it possible to modify a file in the DB filesystem in order to support a new remote?
Would it be possible to use the serial port on the DB with the lirc interface?

You can use the virtual remote control from your web browser - read the guide at the start of forum - if that helps.

Think the remote control software is in the bootloader and ma be difficult to alter.

How about a new lircd server + lirc serial interface...
What needs to be done in order to get it running?

Is it possible to pass commands to the DB with TELNET commands?
(by emulating a remote, something like: "switch to channel 7" or "remote_Menu")
