How To Get UK/US Channels In Canada?

Hi all,

I'm looking to get some sort of satellite system that would allow me to get the UK channels (mostly interested in iTV and SkySports and BBC) as well as American channels (mostly interested in ESPN).

I live in Canada.

I have tried searching the possible solutions but I am scared to buy something based on my research alone. If you could please let me know what type of box and dish I would need and such that would be greatly appreciated. If you could show me where to buy it that would be great as well.

Also, if you could mention if I would need a monthly subscription of any sort or if it is just a one time fee and if it would use my internet data or does it not?

Well you've no chance whatsoever of picking up astra 28.2 East where most of the UK television is transmitted from, perhaps an outside chance of the BBC channels BISS encrypted on 27.5 West, but you would need an enormous dish. _http://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-907.html.

Otherwise you'd have to look at Slingbox hosting in the UK, but it requires a healthy broadband connection.
 
My internet connection is 15 ping, 15.23 mbps download 6.86 upload and I have unlimited data. Would be that good enough?

If so, could you give me a short explanation on how the slingbox method would work or the equipment I would require?
 
The Slingbox itself has to be hosted in the country of origin, in this case the UK, you can search for "UK Slingbox hosting" for companies and prices. At your end, you either need a feed to your TV from a laptop or PC, or try to get hold of a Slingcatcher, which are no longer made, but still a few around to be purchased.

Otherwise, their are proxy services which use a UK ip address so that expats can view BBC iplayer etc.

in order to watch uk tv in canada the best way would be sling box.
how here is the expence,to watch espn sky uk you will have to have a satellite system and smart card and paying sky the monthly subscription.
then they in the uk will have to have a good internet as well unlimited service as well.
now if you want only bbc and itv free fiew then the sky cost is gone but the internet is not.
there is hosting services that will host for you as well in the uk.
so here it is
first you need to buy a sling box for the uk.
then you will need eather a friend or a relative with unlimited internet. or a hosting service to send the data tv service
then you will need a free view for basic or a sky box with a card and pay nothing for free view or pay sky per month
you will need a computer in canada with the software to receive the sling service and conect the computer to your tv in canada via hdmi.
its not the down speed in canada its more the up speed in the uk that is the most important.
