how to play vob, avi, dvix from usb stick in VLC player dm800

Hello,

Would it be possible to play play vob, avi and dvix from an usb stick on the DM800

The size of the latest usb sticks is big enough to put complete movies on, eg complete dvd's like vob files.

My goal is not to use dvd disks anymore.

yes you can, but have to play with media player
personally don't find it very stable so don't use it
 
Why not download VLC player instead? It's probably the best free multimedia player for Windows. It supports most of the audio/video file formats out there and has all the codecs installed already. I used it for about 6 months and it has never crashed or had any bugs since that date.

I've tried playing .avi and divx files from my usb using media centre and it wont work at all it shows the Green Screen and restarts. Plus from what i have read the DM800 is not powerful enough to play those files the only way is to stream it from your computer using VLC
 
Boltakal, did you get it working using media player?

Hashman, you say you have it working but its not stable? I can view the files but when I press green button to play, the player loads but only blank screen, am I missing a trick?
