How to reset root password on Dreambox DM800

Dreambox DM500s, DM800HD, Sky+, minidish, Fortek star 90cm dish, Fortek Star Motor.
My Location
Newcastle England
Hi All,

I have forgot my password for my DM800 and can't get access.
I don't do c/s but don't want to reflash my box as it's working well.
I've tried TuxCom but when I navigate to var/etc/passwd, as referred to in numerous earlier posts it won't let me press 4 to edit lines.
Can anyone help.

I have a question related to passwords: If you perform a flash erase using the "up" button on your Dreambox, does this reset the password as well? Did anyone try this?
 
Satelliteman, you need root access to use this plug in, which I don't have.
 
Forgot to say, using Nabilosat image.
 
I have worked out how to edit the 1st line in the passwd folder but can't work out which button lets me erase the digits.
Anybody got any ideas?

I still haven't got this sorted.
There must be an easy way to do this??
