how to save new ip address

My Satellite Setup
laptop windows xp, wireless 3g router, dreambox 500s, gemini image.
My Location
alicante spain.
Ive managed to connect my dreambox to pc via crossover BUT i cant seam to save the new ip address that im putting in to the dreambox the default ip address of 10.0.0.97 keeps on appearing every time i go back to it. Ive tried the obvious green button ive tried shut down and removing power but just cant save the new address (192.168.1.51) please help a newbie.
Ive spent a lot of time looking at this forum and like the way newbies are helped with nice simple explanations a big thanks to all involved in helping all us beginners we all have to start somwhere THANKS AGAIN.:-worship:-worship:-worship:-worship

Did you untick DHCP?

i did untick dhcp, I tried several combinations but because i didnt quite understand what i was doing. What procedure would you recomend for saving a new ip address

Thanks to all who helped ive got it green lines from pc router dreambox and ip address is staying put (i think by accident):):):):)
 
Keep your eye on how much space is left in var:

blue panel > addons > setup

Don't install too many emus (cams) or plugins. Once you use more than about 85% the 500 starts behaving oddly. I should have mentioned it before but it slipped my mind :-DOH!
